Daniel Brix Death – The passing of Daniel Brix, a former standout player for the Stonehill College men’s basketball team, has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, teammates, and the basketball community at large. Brix, who hailed from West Orange, New Jersey, tragically passed away in his home state on Wednesday, February 21, leaving behind a legacy of athleticism, dedication, and kindness. Danny Brix was the assistant boys’ basketball coach at Colonia High School.

Daniel Brix’s journey in basketball began long before his college years, as he distinguished himself with an All-State career at St. Joseph High School of Metuchen. His talent and hard work on the court caught the attention of recruiters, leading him to join the Stonehill College basketball program. Over the course of his four-year career at Stonehill, Brix demonstrated his skill and commitment, starting in 48 out of the 79 games he played.
However, Brix’s impact extended far beyond statistics and game scores. He embodied the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship, earning the respect and admiration of his coaches, teammates, and fans alike. His leadership both on and off the court played a crucial role in the success of the Stonehill basketball program.
One of the highlights of Brix’s collegiate career came during his senior season, where he started in 24 out of 28 games played. His contributions were instrumental in helping the Skyhawks achieve a remarkable 24-9 record, culminating in the team’s third NCAA Division II East Regional Championship and a memorable trip to the Elite Eight in Frisco, Texas, in 2016.
Following his graduation from Stonehill College with a Bachelor’s Degree in business management, Brix returned to his native New Jersey, where he continued to make a positive impact in his community. He pursued a career in client service while also giving back to the sport he loved by serving as an assistant varsity basketball coach at Colonia High School.
The sudden loss of Daniel Brix has sent shockwaves through the basketball community, prompting an outpouring of love, support, and remembrance. He is survived by his loving parents, Christine and Tim Brix, as well as his brothers, Timothy and Kevin. Prior to the men’s basketball game between Stonehill and Saint Francis University that will take place at Merkert Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., there will be a minute of remembrance held, and information regarding memorial services will be made accessible after it has been released.
