Sheryl Turner Death – An investigation into a possible homicide was opened following the discovery of human remains floating in the Ouachita River in January of 2024. At approximately 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from a 911 operator that directed them to a place on the Ouachita River roughly three miles north of Jonesville. The area was where a fisherman had seen what seemed to be a body floating in the river. The remains of the deceased were transported to Parish Forensics in Broussard, Louisiana, for an autopsy after being recovered by deputies from the CPSO.

According to the findings of the autopsy, the bones that were discovered were those of a human torso, including the removal of the extremities and the head in a methodical and extremely accurate manner. There is evidence that the remains belong to a female African-American with light skin who weighed between 220 and 250 pounds, according to estimates. A medical examiner has determined that the time of death occurred roughly one to five days before January 24th, 2024. This is the view of the medical examiner.

The case is being considered as an active homicide investigation, according to officials from the CPSO, and all of the resources that are available will be deployed in order to identify the victim and locate the culprit or suspects who are involved in this heinous crime. Sheryl Turner, who was 19 years old and went to New Iberia, Louisiana, was identified as the victim by her loved ones.
