Preliminary findings from the investigation revealed that the operator of the St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services vehicle had suffered a sudden medical emergency, resulting in the vehicle veering off the roadway and colliding with a substantial tree. As the page indicates, Jason remains in the intensive care unit. This tragedy has undoubtedly been a turbulent ordeal for both Jason and our family. The sight of our sibling in excruciating pain, enduring numerous injuries, and requiring numerous operations has been heartbreaking. For us, Jason has always appeared invincible, like Superman—always on the move, prioritizing the assistance of others over his own—so it is heartbreaking to see him now grapple with the repercussions of this injury on his future. The amputation of Jason’s right limb is a life-altering event, and we want his recovery, which we are certain will be lengthy and fraught with obstacles, to be his only concern.
Now that Jason has dedicated his entire existence to community service and assisting others, it is our responsibility to assist him. Jason enjoyed practicing sports and spending time with his dog Rosie while growing up in Staten Island. He holds Binghamton and SUNY Upstate Medical University diplomas with pride.
